iPad vs. Kindle: Which is the better e-Reader? | Tech Broiler | ZDNet.com

The iPad appears to be adequate for light daytime indoor reading, but fails miserably as an outdoor reading device. Vizplex e-Ink readers such as the Kindle, the SONY line and the Barnes & Noble Nook still appear to be much more optimal for long duration reading indoors and outdoors during daytime hours.

Amazon releases Kindle for iPhone

March 4th, 2009 gregh No comments

Interesting, I hope they are working on a Windows Mobile client, and that it would work outside of the USA. Kindle for iPhone allows Apple iPhone and iPod touch owners to read Kindle books using a simple, easy-to-use interface. You can shop for hundreds of thousands of books at www.amazon.com/kindlestore, and wirelessly transfer the books to your iPhone or iPod touch.
With Kindle for iPhone, you can:
* Buy a Kindle book from your Mac, PC, or iPhone using a Web browser and wirelessly transfer the books to your iPhone
* Read first chapters of any book for free before you buy
* Download the Kindle books you already own for free — they are automatically backed up on Amazon.com
* Adjust the text size, add bookmarks, and view the annotations you created on your Kindle device

Kindle for iPhone also includes Whispersync, which allows you to seamlessly switch back and forth between your Kindle device and Kindle for iPhone while keeping your bookmarks and reading location synchronized between devices. Now you can easily pick up reading right where you left off on your Kindle or iPhone.

Kindle 2: Amazon’s New Wireless Reading Device

February 10th, 2009 gregh No comments

I’ve used the first version of the Kindle in the US last year. What struck me as it’s biggest benefit was the inbuilt 3G wireless, meaning you can order books off Amazon and they show up on your device, easy and simple. Now with Kindle 2 Amazon have increased the battery life, the speed and the quality of the display. My only question is when can we get this in the UK with a working inbuilt 3G network? feat-libr2-300px__v251264267_
