Oracle buys Sun

Well after all the discussions regarding IBM buying Sun, I don’t think many people predicated this would happen!
Oracle has always been a software vendor, this brings them into the hardware space, and in direct competition with their partners like HP and IBM who sold Oracle solutions to run on their own hardware.
It will be interesting to see how this develops. The official Oracle press release is here.
